FINE NEEDLE ASPIRATION (FNA)

POST-OP INSTRUCTIONS - FINE NEEDLE ASPIRATION

CALL YOUR SURGEON DURING OFFICE HOURS OR GO TO THE NEAREST EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT IF:

  1. You have a temperature over 38.5C or 101.3F.

  2. Redness, increased swelling, or increased pain develops at the biopsy site

 

Activity

Patients may resume normal activity.

 

Medication

You may experience neck pain and neck stiffness. Take the pain medication as prescribed.  Over-the-counter pain medication may also be used for mild-to-moderate pain.

Follow-up

Follow up in 3 weeks to review biopsy report.
